Save the herring by joining the Baltic Sea Call to Action (Östersjöuppropet)

Now there are 136 different organizations, associations and companies supporting the appeal. Together, we are now more than 165,000 in the appeal, including close to 2,000 private individuals.

But the more we are, the stronger we become - so do not hesitate to contact us if you want to join the appeal.

The existence of herring and baltic herring is threatened

The goal of the Baltic Sea Call to Action is to secure sustainable stocks of herring in the Baltic Sea by limiting fishing to only human consumption, and ensuring that catches are landed and processed locally. This is also an important part of making the Baltic Sea a sustainable and resilient ecosystem.

With this appeal we want to:

Limit

That fishery of herring shall be limited only for direct human consumption. The catch should be landed and processed close to where it is caught.

Change

We want to see a change to more local and coastal fishery and solely for human consumption, which currently only makes up around 10% of what is caught.

Collaborate

With the Baltic Sea Call to Action, we are about to gather support from organizations and companies along the entire Baltic Sea coast of Sweden and all the other countries around the Baltic  area, with the aim of influencing politicians and governments.
